EnvirOlympics

I still think it's a really odd name. Was fun I supposed. Was held yesterday and I my arms are aching. Eek! It's some amazing race thing that they made people run around Singapore. My team had to go around the Eastern side though. Which is...unknown to us. Haha. Oh wait, my team: Yong Sheng (sec 4 not sec 3 xD), Jeremy, Chia, Weng Hong and me.

Firstly, we started our day by meeting at the MRT station and trying to navigate to the pavilion. We went in the wrong direction and reached the pavilion 5 minutes late. Hey! I got to learn how to use the bus guide and street directory that way. Wahahaha!

Group A2011. Krystal the facilitator. (Only found out at the end of the day that it's spelt with a K and not a C >.>) First clue! Sun Plaza Park. We reached there and couldn't find the station masters. Genuises. Then another team which got there later found them and got to start first. THAT'S NOT FAIR. Lol. It was some limbo-and-say-a-word-related-to-the-environment game. I think it ended up as a squat-down-and-wiggle-across-under-the-rope-and-say-a-word-related-to-the-environment game. Oh oh! And you're supposed to hold two cups with water without spilling it. Hilarious. Next clue was something like this

Guess the place in the South Western side of S'pore:

51 403
---------
42 509

I think the numbers are wrong. But heck xD. Wait the numbers are VERY wrong. Please do not try to locate the place cause you never will. Basically those were block number and we were supposed to locate them. Krystal was impressed at how we managed to jump to Bedok. We were like:

"Hey check Tampines! Look for the places with these number!"
"Don't have can't find."
"Check again."
"Bedok!"
"Okay, check Bedok."

Maybe not so impressive. But well. RANDOM WORKS. There we were supposed to collect newspapers. Fight with garung guni for business. So mean. Tsk tsk. Well, we had 20 minutes to collect as much newspapers as possible. Apparently the amount didn't really matter. And we went past the time to try to collect more. Silly us. xD

Next clue! Guess the MRT station! They had a picture of a car and a wave. I heard someone mention Farrer somehow. *wonders who* Well Yong Sheng got Kallang. We went there and had to get cups across a line. Cups of increasing distances from the line. We spent 10 minutes using sticks and branches and the guy was like, "Hey RI leh! All the other groups immediately thought of this. Only your group still using sticks and branches! Aiyo. I give you a clue la. It's on the ground. Look what's on the ground which you can tie together and can become very long." (Let's set the situation. It was in a field outside Kallang near a drain. There's lots of long grass and broken branches.) Chia suggested shoelaces (which was the answer to the weird clue), and nobody really thought about it since shoelaces weren't on the ground. (I insist they're on your shoes which do not count as being on the ground.) Until 7 minutes left we decided to heck and got and extra cup! Well, he managed to hook the 5th cup which is screwed up cause I didnt notice it got in. Blehh. Sorry!

Next stop was at Saint Andrew's Cathedral. We had to try to get people to sign on some board about some environmentally friendly thing. Quite boring I must say. Then we had to take photographs of them. Apparently, there was this group of HCI students doing flag day. And slacking there. So we asked them and they said almost every group asked them for signatures. Like lol. There was this guy who seemed quite happy with drawing a red line on his wrist and holding a penknife. Scary I must say. And no he wasn't from HCI.

4 stations down, 3 more to go. The clue was some random string of numbers that Jeremy decided to use his phone. Like cool! A decoder! Answer was Sembawang bus interchange. (I think) And we had some kind of a relay there. We have a 'blind' person carrying a 'lame' person, two people tied together, and one person hopping around. And we each had to carry a ping pong ball across using chopsticks, satay sticks and ice cream sticks. (Each pair/person uses a different one) And you get to do a jigsaw! Fun!

And then we had to go to Sengkang MRT station. My leg still felt tied together and I was walking a bit weirdly. Haha. Like after you go swimming, you come up to land and you feel like you're still in water. At Sengkang MRT, we were playing charades. Guess the word related to the environment. We had to get 3 other guys to join and they were pretty impressive! Yong Sheng was the best. He could totally guess the most random ones, in the wrong word form >.> Like glaciers, he guess glacierfication. First guess mind you. And he started going off track >.> Ahh well. And there's another one which was utterly retarded. 'Use both sides of paper'. Jeremy got 'Write on both sides of paper' and the station master refused to accept it. How do you tell him that you should be using the word 'use'? ._. ACT OUT THE WORD USE NOW. Kidding.

Next stop was at Pasir Ris Town Park. Some poison water game. Hold hands, form a chain walk on paper plates and answer questions, doing tasks at the same time. Then we had to get back to Hougang again. For lunch! At 4! Lols. Yes we skipped lunch.

And prize giving. I still have a feeling there was some miscalculation but fine, maybe there was some other component and I shouldn't be complaining. Rawr. Oh well. That's probably the end of the whole thing. xD
